John Rocker's Redemption Arc

November 03, 20254 min read

Turns out he was right all along. Imagine being so right on what is now obvious, a quarter century ago.

His name has become associated with bigotry. We're supposed to write him off as a disgrace to the sport, a stain in the vaunted history of 1990s Braves pitching. Soon-to-be-defunct Wikipedia, the tightly monitored source of mainstream information laundering, lays out a litany of derogatory and offensive comments he has made. Call me whatever you want; as I read through them I found myself mostly agreeing. If they had any interest in making an honest assessment, Jimmy Kimmel's history of 'offensive' quotes would put Rocker to shame. But of course, they don't, and they aren't seeking to convey historical fact but to elicit strictly-curated public opinion.

So like most things over the past five years, we can comfortably shake off the version of history we've been spoon-fed, reexamine, and come to our own conclusions. Let's see the infamous quote about New York that took a pitcher in his prime down to the dustbin of baseball history.

"Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark looking like you're riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It's depressing. The biggest thing I don't like about New York are the foreigners. You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish people and everything up there. How the hell did they get in this country?" (Rocker)

Honestly, that's a very tame, sugarcoated assessment of what it is now. And not just New York, it's every major city. And minor cities. And small towns. Minneapolis is about to elect a Somali who is openly against America; New York City is about to elect a socialist mayor who is openly against America; Dearborn, Michigan, police have Arabic on their badges. Every sentence of that quote is an understatement compared to today, with the possible exception of the 20-year-old mom, which is a standard we should get back to, though maybe first kid rather than fourth.

Writes Vox Day, "He was roundly condemned for this by the national media, by Major League Baseball, and was even forced to undergo professional counseling for the thought crime of noticing the consequences of the foreign invasion the city was undergoing. And now, what appears to be the imminent election of a socialist Muslim born in Uganda to the highest elective office in New York City, he's taking a well-earned victory lap."

"25 years ago I criticized New York for its rapid decline into a third world country. I was forced to undergo Psychological Counseling, as if I were the crazy one. 25 years later, the city is voting in a muslim socialist for mayor." (Rocker)

Here’s the punchline:

"This is an object lesson for all of the puritanical goodthinkers and immigration fetishists who drank the equalitarian Kool-Aid. Those Cassandras you condemned for being "crazy" and "racist" and "bigoted" were right all along. All of history, recent and ancient, clearly testifies to the obvious fact that if you permit a sufficient number of foreigners to enter your country, they will change it to suit their preferences with absolutely no respect for what was there before them. The equalitarian ideology has failed. The Enlightenment has failed. Multiculturalism and anti-racism have failed. Immigration is a clear, present, and existential danger to most of the nations of the West."

You can feel uncomfortable reading it, but they were right. John Rocker was right. And if you dismissed him as a bigot, you were wrong. When Andrew Cuomo looks like the reasonable moderate in your race, you may as well just open your home to a roving migrant gang now. The people of New York are about to get bent over a barrel at the pleasure of a foreign socialist who will strip them of their wealth with the enthusiasm and vigor of Joe Biden at a girl scout slumber party. And they deserve every minute of it.

So as always, assume they are lying. Assume whatever the news says is false, and that the exact opposite has a higher likelihood of being a closer starting point towards finding the truth. Be everything they don't want you to be. We can't change New York City or the humiliation they are vigorously inviting upon themselves. The docile Minnesotans who think they will get credit for voting for a minority are about to learn about diversity the hard way. They are following the lead of their Swedish heritage and ensuring their societal destruction. Migrant hordes act like... migrant hordes. They're already raping you, might as well make the rape metaphorical on top of literal.

We can chip away at the invasion by not accepting the narrative yokes placed around our necks, at a bare, lazy minimum. Soon there won't be any middle ground; the two sides will be so polarized as to be unbridgeable. I beat this drum over and over, and I doubt anyone is still reading, but as a lifelong Braves fan I find it gratifying to offer one of our great pitchers a victory lap.
